About the Computer History Association

The Computer History Association was established in 2026 and is dedicated to fostering collaboration, promoting awareness, and enabling growth among local, national and international organizations involved in preserving computer and technology history. Our goal is to support all computer history organizations, both large and small, in communicating with each other, publicizing their work, and helping to acquire funding to maintain their important missions.

The CHA was founded in 2026 by David Nowak-who also started Retro Tech Restoration, LLC and hosts the Tallahassee Vintage Computer Club. The CHA is run entirely by volunteers who are passionate about preserving and sharing computer history. As technology has become ubiquitous in our everyday life, understanding where it came from and how it developed is essential.

No, we are not currently a registered non-profit organization in the United States. We are currently a privately-funded association, so your donations are NOT tax-deductible. However, as we grow and gain the resources needed to maintain the federal filing requirements for a non-profit organization, that will be one of our future goals.

Since we are a brand new organization, we cannot yet accept donations.  If you would like to volunteer to help us grow, please emails us at  info@computerhistoryassociation.org.

Website Features

We currently offer a free online location-based directory service a free public events calendar and a monthly news and events email newsletter. Among our future goals are to setup a forum or other communication service to facilitate communications within the computer and technology history community.

We would also like to develop programs to help computer history-related organizations reach out to potential funding sources in order to support their missions.

If you need to update or delete an event, or would like to make a recurring event, please email the details of the requested change to ” events@computerhistoryassociation.org“.

All events submitted at least 30 days prior to their start date will be included and announced in the monthly email newsletter. We cannot make additional announcements for events submitted less than 30 years prior to their start date.

Not directly, but if you’d like to submit your organization’s announcement for consideration in our main page news feed and upcoming email newsletter, please email it to ” news@computerhistoryassociation.org“.  Posts will be reviewed by one of our volunteers for accuracy and relevance to the computer history community. News posting requests will be limited to once per day per organization and once per event.
